Millions of bikes locked to millions of bridges.
It takes about twenty minutes to bike from one end of Amsterdam to the other. Not as the bird flies. Not if you manage to make all the lights and bomb through stop signs. An easy twenty minutes where every cars and pedestrian you see will yield to you.
Biking on a borrowed Dutch bike was the best thing I did in this city. I had completely forgotten about the coffee shops and the famous red light district. I didn’t bother visiting them. All I cared about was biking through as much of the labyrinth like streets as I could before I left.
